WHO WE ARE
Middlesex CT Indivisible was created because people demanded it.
Residents in Middletown and the surrounding towns and cities of the county were already engaged in the kinds of activities encouraged, promoted and organized by Indivisible — street protests, visibility activities, letter and card-writing campaigns, petitioning government and elected officials — so it seemed logical to create an official Indivisible chapter to coordinate and organize these activities.
WHY WE EXIST
We want to create change. It’s all too obvious that the current president aspires to be an authoritarian leader, and each new day, each new headline or post, confirms that he’s succeeding. And he’s not alone, he’s got a cadre of appointees, and enabling lawmakers who are bent on restricting Constitutional rights, and dragging us back to the dark ages. We won’t let them.
WHAT WE’RE DOING ABOUT IT
We meet monthly on the second Tuesday of the month. We share insights and information. We communicate about projects. We seek to inspire and inform. We have a Facebook, Bluesky, and Instagram presence, and we’re working on other social media sites. We are aligned with 50501, and participate in their calls to action. Locally, we are aligned with Middletown Mutual Aid Collective, ACLU Wesleyan, and MIRA (Middlesex Immigrant Resource Alliance) and other Indivisible Groups. We co-sponsor a weekly protest on Middletown’s Main Street, and a weekly overpass visibility event. Our current MIRA collaboration is conducting trainings for court accompaniment, and rapid response teams. We’re only just getting started.
THE BASICS
Middlesex CT Indivisible is a centralized resource for information about events and actions happening in our county and beyond. Our goal is to organize, resist and spread the word about the way we can make meaningful changes.
