Court Accompaniment and Rapid Response Training

For Indivisible Middlesex CT and Middletown Immigrant Resource Alliance Members

A group of volunteers willing to accompany immigrants to court and to show up when the call comes in reporting ICE activity. We stand with immigrants and their families before, during, and after a raid. Activists will be notified of details when needed.

Though training isn't necessary, we periodically have a training session to prepare volunteers for accompanying immigrants to court or being a part of rapid response.  Participants learn what to expect, how to prepare, and how to react.  The training generally last about 90 minutes. A new training will be scheduled once we know we have enough people needing this service. If you are interested, please send an email to us at indivisibleMiddlesexct@gmail.com and in the subject line state, 'want court accompaniment class.'

Court accompaniments are ongoing in New Haven. It would be helpful for our local volunteers to attend a New Haven accompaniment as observers until there is a need for one here. Anyone interested in joining a New Haven court accompaniment should contact Michael at Mtkayak1@gmail.com.

The Connecticut Trust Act and other State and Federal Protections

A State law that limits how local and state law enforcement can cooperate with federal immigration authorities, specifically U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). It aims to protect undocumented immigrants from deportation by restricting information sharing and ensuring that local resources are not used for federal immigration enforcement. Click here to read. In October 2025, key updates to Connecticut’s Trust Act took effect. Click here to read about the changes.

Middletown Common Council passes Trust Act Resolution

On March 2nd, the Middletown Common Council voted 8 to 4 to pass a resolution strengthening the Trust Act, which limits local police from assisting federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The resolution does not prevent ICE from operating in Middletown but enforces due process for all residents and limits ICE to targeting individuals who pose a threat to the community and have criminal records.

The Initial Resolution was submitted to Middletown Common Council: Middletown residents, led by Ed McKeon of Indivisible Middlesex CT, petitioned the Middletown Common Council to pass a resolution affirming the city’s commitment to the Trust Act and requesting that ICE agents remove their masks and identify themselves during enforcement operations. On a statewide level, the CT ACLU asked Indivisible groups (as well as other similar organizations) to sign onto an executive order regarding the use of the Connecticut National Guard. This order is intended for the signature of Governor Lamont. Indivisible Middlesex CT signed this order on 12/8/2025. Click here to read. Updates will be posted here once we hear back from the CT ACLU.

On a national level, we were asked to join with numerous other like minded groups to support a letter Safeguarding the 2026 Midterm Elections. Follow this link to read the letter. We are with good company. https://tinyurl.com/fac-govs-2026elect-letter

Minn Protest for DR Good Article.jpg

It could happen here

Opinion piece printed in The Hartford Courant February 3, 2026 • by Michael Good, MD

Dr. Good's parents were both Jewish survivors of the Holocaust. They were welcomed to America.

Will Americans in 2026 fall into the same trap of disbelief as the doomed Jews of Vilna in 1941? The time to act is now! Raise your voices!  Take to the streets to demand justice for Renee Good and Alex Pretti and to defend a constitution that is in danger of being trampled by a new set of jackboots.
